THÉO AUFFRET

FOUNDER & WATCHMAKER

AUFFRET PARIS

“The most talented ones are those who find the best people to work with; this is the best way to succeed. It’s like asking, would you like it if Ferrari or Porsche also made car tyres? No, they refer to Pirelli or Michelin, as that’s their expertise. It should be the same in horology. So, I try to work with the best. If there are talented people, I want to work with them.”

Théo Auffret emerged as a promising independent watchmaker after winning the 2018 F.P.Journe Young Talent Competition. Born and raised in France, Théo polished his skills under the mentorship of master watchmaker Jean-Baptiste Viot in Paris, where he developed a deep understanding of traditional horology. His early training focused on restoring antique watches, instilling in him a respect for classical techniques while fueling his desire to innovate. Théo’s work stands out for its intricate finishing and carefully crafted movements, combining historical watchmaking with modern ingenuity.

For the 10th edition of Only Watch, Théo partnered with Petermann Bédat, presenting a unique watch that showcased his attention to detail and collaborative spirit. This joint creation further cemented his reputation within the watchmaking community, earning praise for its blend of technical precision and artistic expression. Within the past year, Théo also launched his other project, Space One. The astronomically inspired Space One watches continue his exploration of avant-garde design.

Théo shows great promise in his ability to draw inspiration from historical horology while pushing the boundaries of contemporary design. His commitment to preserving traditional watchmaking methods while looking towards the future positions him as an innovator in the evolving landscape of artisanal watchmaking.
