SEAN LI
Editorial Director
BLACKBIRD WATCH MANUAL
“My early career and studies were in technology, so I’m fascinated with how modern devices have evolved and have become indelible parts of our daily lives, especially considering there are generations now that were born with such devices being available from a very young age. There is a certain juxtaposition with the watch industry and how it’s arguably a foothold into traditional analogue crafts.”
Sean Li, the Editorial Director of Blackbird Watch Manual, has made significant contributions to the watch industry through his editorial and educational work. He holds a Master’s in Information Systems and Business Administration from Boston University, completed in 1996. Sean’s career began as the Editorial Director for Revolution Hong Kong from 2009 to 2018, where he played an important role during the foundational years of its growth. In 2018, he joined Blackbird Watch Manual, offering in-depth watch reviews and horological insights.
Since 2014, Sean has been a member of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) Cultural Council, promoting the art of watchmaking. His expertise also earned him a role as a Jury Member at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) from 2012 to 2016, where he evaluated and celebrated horological talent.
Sean’s work at Blackbird Watch Manual has solidified his reputation as a thought leader, bridging the gap between watch enthusiasts and the intricate world of watchmaking. His diverse background uniquely positions him to provide valuable insights into both the business and cultural aspects of the watch industry.
