MAX QUINTAVALLE
MANAGING DIRECTOR
LA VALLÉE
“I had the opportunity to meet many remarkable individuals, to share their unique journey through the world of horology and I feel privileged to be a part of it. I have learnt that what truly matters in our lives are the emotions that stay with us forever and that is very personal. This is why I wanted to use our savoir faire to elevate the concept of the clock into something that touches the personal sphere of each of us on several levels both technically and emotionally.”
Massimiliano Quintavalle, known as Max, is the Managing Director of La Vallée, a family-run clockmaking business with roots in Italian craftsmanship and precision. The La Vallée story began in the 1930s with Max’s grandfather, Antonio Quintavalle, who established a small clock repair workshop in Venice. In 1954, the brand relocated to the Lake Como region, marking a new chapter in the family’s horological journey.
Growing up immersed in horology, Max absorbed the knowledge and values passed down by his father and grandfather. He pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, complementing his heritage with a modern, technical foundation. After completing apprenticeships in Bologna and two micromechanics companies, Max joined La Vallée in 2002. He took charge of the technical department, overseeing the development and realisation of bespoke projects.
Under his leadership, La Vallée evolved from crafting custom clocks to producing limited-edition series, merging traditional Italian craftsmanship with innovative horology. Max’s vision is centred on creating highly personalised clocks that evoke emotional connections with their owners. Today, La Vallée remains a beacon of mechanical innovation, with Max steering the company towards preserving its legacy while embracing modern advancements in clockmaking.
