KONSTANTIN CHAYKIN
“When you set a long-term goal to cultivate inspiration, everything around you — visiting exhibitions, watching movies, or dreaming — offers valuable insights. You probably already know the answer to your question; all it takes to arrive at that point is to immerse yourself in an environment that allows inspiration to flourish. Perhaps this is the secret to having crazy ideas.”
Konstantin Chaykin, a Russian watchmaker, is internationally known for his inventive approach and playful designs. Born in St. Petersburg, Konstantin pursued an engineering background before entering the world of horology in the early 2000s. He is self-taught in watchmaking, a path that allowed him to experiment freely and develop his unique style. Konstantin established his own brand, Konstantin Chaykin, where he quickly gained attention for creating complicated watches with distinct personalities.
Konstantin is best known for his Wristmon series, particularly the Joker watch, which features an animated face with eyes that change to indicate hours and minutes. This humorous yet mechanically intricate creation was first unveiled at Baselworld 2017 and became an instant hit among collectors. His broader portfolio includes everything from astronomical clocks to mechanical calendars and bespoke watches.
Konstantin holds over 80 patents and was the first Russian member of the Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI). His work reflects a deep curiosity and passion for pushing the boundaries of traditional horology, blending technical innovation with creative storytelling.
