But now I have a problem. Because I’ve been told I have to cut down on sugar, therefore curbing dark chocolate, I will have to create more!”
Maximilian Büsser stands out in the world of independent watchmaking for his unique blend of creativity, marketing acumen, and entrepreneurial spirit. Beginning his career at Jaeger- LeCoultre in 1991 as a Marketing & Sales Manager, Maximilian quickly made a name for himself. In 1998, still in his twenties, he was tapped to run the watch division of Harry Winston. It was here that his innovative thinking led to the creation of the Opus series, a groundbreaking collaboration between Harry Winston and notable independent watchmakers.
The Opus series began in 2001 with François-Paul Journe’s movements installed in Harry Winston cases. Each year brought a new collaboration, with notable contributions from watchmakers such as Vianney Halter in 2003 and Urwerk in 2005. These collaborations significantly raised the profile of independent watchmaking talents. However, Maximilian left Harry Winston shortly after the Opus V to start his own venture.
In 2005, Maximilian founded Maximilian Büsser & Friends (MB&F) in Geneva, Switzerland. His new company continued the ethos of collaboration that he had pioneered at Harry Winston, working with various independent watchmakers to create innovative and artistically unique watches. As Owner & Creative Director, Maximilian has led MB&F to become a celebrated name in the watch industry, known for pushing the boundaries of traditional watchmaking through creative partnerships and cutting- edge designs.
