SYLVAIN PINAUD

FOUNDER & WATCHMAKER

SYLVAIN PINAUD

“I see watchmaking as an all-consuming passion. Absorbed by a fixed idea, I totally forget the world around me. I forget the hours, hunger and thirst to follow only this idea. It’s monomania, but I like the feeling… the people around me less so.”

Sylvain Pinaud, an artisanal watchmaker, began his journey in horology with a 4-year Baccalaureate from the renowned watchmaking school in Morteau, graduating in 1998. The son of a watchmaker, Sylvain frequented the workbench from childhood, developing an early interest in watchmaking that would motivate him to study at the renowned Morteau watchmaking school to deepen his knowledge and develop his skills.

From 2000 to 2004, Sylvain worked at Franck Muller Geneva, specialising in high complications, including perpetual calendars and tourbillons, while also handling after-sales service. He then transitioned to high-end clock restoration at Atelier Dominique Mouret Sainte-Croix, where he worked from 2004 to 2009, restoring museum pieces from legendary horologists like Abraham-Louis Breguet, Ferdinand Berthoud and Antide Janvier.

In 2009, Sylvain joined Carl F. Bucherer in Sainte-Croix, where he spent eight years working on development, prototyping, and laboratory work for new calibres. Since 2018, he has been an independent watchmaker based in the Jura mountains, practising watchmaking in line with his values. He debuted with the Monopusher Chronograph in 2018 and followed up with the Origine watch in 2022.
