SILBERSTEIN

“I’m inspired by walking in the woods, seeing the changing colours of each season, the rain, and the sounds and smells of the undergrowth. On the other hand, the bustling day-to-day life of cities such as Paris, Berlin, Milan, Tokyo, New York, Dubai, Hong Kong, and Singapore also inspire me. I am fascinated by the architecture, the colours, the way people dress and behave, and the unique smells specific to each city.”

Alain Silberstein is a celebrated French watch designer and interior architect known for his vibrant and unconventional designs. Born in 1950, Alain pursued his education at The Met de Penninghen School of Art Direction and Interior Design and École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art in Paris, earning a degree in interior and model design in 1973. His career began as an interior designer, working in Paris and later in Besançon until 1989.

Alain’s foray into watch design began in 1985, and by 1987, he exhibited his creations at Baselworld. In 1990, he founded La Fabrique de Besançon, dedicated to manufacturing and marketing his distinctive watches. The opening of Galerie Alain Silberstein in Paris in 2000 further established his reputation. His firm received recognition as a Haute Horlogerie brand by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) in 2006.

Since 2012, Alain has redirected his efforts toward collaborations, working with notable brands such as MB&F, Romain Jerome, and Louis Erard to create remarkable limited edition watches. Among his standout creations are the MB&F HM2.2 “Black Box” and the MB&F LM1 Silberstein, both of which feature his distinctive style of primary colours and geometric shapes.
